Howdy boys and girls.
Fresh back from a rousting night at the Parkway Station. Those Shaggers were going at it all night long, though the Darwin Award winners gave them a good run for the money. Darwin’s took the lead early with their bingo prowess and their awesome autumn roses (see I knew how to spell that from the quiz tonight!) along with a great story about the tree from whence the roses came. Sad little Maple, aw.
The Sheep Shaggers ended up just a few points ahead of the award winners yet took the final question and wagered slightly higher to end up drinking that sweet exlixer of the gods, Pub Quiz cash!
Thanks to Darwins for the great tips, and my winning lottery ticket, I’ll be sure to cut you in when I cash it in next week, those millions won’t change my ways… Nope, I would still be doing trivia with all of you every Thursday night, perhaps not ALL of you, but a select few of you on my yacht, sniffing blow off my newly surgically sculpted abs of steel while I yell out “WRONG YOU A**Holes WRONG!!” Then we’ll jet off to Fashion week, pick up some models, force them to eat bar food and play trivia so we could all feel better about ourselves while we wear our Prada underpants and sing songs about water and God. Amen. Are you with me?
Of course I would throw some cash at some charities, what am I, barbaric? Sheesh.
FYI–Me thinks it not a coincidence that the previous QM was writing about billionaires as I was handed a lottery ticket tonight as part of my tip, watch for me on the local news next week. ME. Watch.

Wow some exciting action at the ol’ Belmont Inn tonight, what with the unranked Oregon State Beavers HANDING #1 ranked USC their ASSES right there, on the screen, as my quiz was going. The place was jammed with people screaming their heads off and making me feel like a rock star (even though the cheers weren’t for me, but that’s not really so different from my normal daydreaming, so it worked out just fine. Wait… I’m hearing some cheers right now! Yes, thank you! Thank you so much! I’m here all night! Thank you, you’re beautiful… especially you. Yes you. You’re hot. Wanna hang out?)
Anyway, things got even more exciting tonight when I forgot to add the 50th sign-up to my tally, and therefore assumed there were only 49 folks going into the final round, and thus putting only three top teams in. But, BUT! An astute representative from Boners With Sweat Pants ran over at an incredible speed and cried “no! I signed up late, remember? And you forgot to enter me, you miserable cretin you!” And I counted the moola, and sure enough (!), I had $150 in my lil’ pot, meaning that yes! I had erred and we were indeed in for a five-team final. (Actually, he was very nice, as all the lovably gruff Boners With Sweat Pants always are. I’m glad he spoke up!)
This set us up for an epic finale in which the murderous Get Yer Ass To Mars saw their dominating 53-point lead evaporate in the face of a final-round question that only one team knew. Yes, my beloved (well, you’re all beloved; but come on, any team that references the Kurt Russell classic Big Trouble in Little China week in and week out is especially beloved, am I right?) Pork Chop Express somehow knew that Mark Zuckerberg is the CEO of Facebook, and a recent BILLIONAIRE, and therefore took the first place prize. A billionaire… Jeeze Lou-eeze. A billion dollars for putting together a glorified message board. I am in the wrong business with this Pub Quiz stuff… but I’m having way more fun than Zuckerberg, right? Right!? While he’s sitting on his yacht with diamond-encrusted toilet seats and bikini-clad women sniffing cocaine off his belly-lard, you know he’s saying to himself, “Sure, I’m one of the richest men in the world, but my life just isn’t complete without that Pub Quiz gig I never applied for. Sigh… ah well. Jeeves, bring me another bottle of Johnnie Walker Black so that I may drink away my sorrows. And throw a bundle of these C-notes on the grill. You know I hate Sea Bass roasted over fifties.”
Yeah, I’m sure glad I’m not HIM.
Lovely having Executive Assistant Renee back in the house. She is my grading assistant rock. Not only does she grade quickly and flawlessly and give me endless moral support, but she also feeds me many of the jokes I utter into the mic and (every now and then) get mild giggles with from people who wish I’d just shut up and roll on to the next question. I have to give Renee a special shout-out on this post because tomorrow (almost today says my drunk-ass internal clock), September 26, is her birthday! So, if you’re reading this and you’ve never commented before, now is your chance! Wish Best-Assistant-Ever Renee a wonderful birthday and think about us tomorrow (today) night, as we celebrate in style singing bad Barry Manilow tracks at the Family Karaoke Studio on Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, the Funnest Extended Strip Mall in the World!
Lovies!

Fun night at the Maiden with lots of familiar faces and lots of new faces.
The changing season must have brought our newbies some beginners luck. The Bailouts, were on top with their Bingo bonus and the Moose Knuckles were not far behind. It was still a close round with the rest of the teams not far behind. Lucky for everyone one of our Bingo ansers was also useful in the Back to School Handout.
Round two went swimmingly, aside from some heckling from my friends Charo’s Angels (thanks for visiting!) that the correct name for the Mormon church is “Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints” not Church of Jesus Christ and the Latter Day Saints. I stand corrected.
The Bond Girl handout was tough all-around, except for the one 007 expert who happened to be on the currently hot team The Bailouts.
Congrats to Moose Knuckles who pulled a Final Challenge round upset with the full correct Final Answer. The Bailouts won 2nd and regulars Horse Whisper made a nice showing with 3rd.

A nice group of 77 people came to play last night at The Thirsty Lion. Everyone had a great time and I think the highlight of the night was the video clue on the 2nd round about Arthur Guinness… if you weren’t there, look up on Youtube ‘Best Guinness Commercial Ever’ and you’ll know what I’m talking about :-). Classic! That is the great thing about The Lion, it’s the only place in the city where you can get visual clues… it definitly adds a new dimension to the quiz.
I also saw some of the best Leaf Roses for bonus points last night that were incredibly impressive and looked like real roses!
In the end we had five teams go into the final round… and after the Fall Guy/GTA final question ‘Clarification Please!’ came out on top with ‘Scooby’s Red Rocket’ and ‘Little Lebowski’s Urban Achievers’ taking second and third respectively. Well played guys!!
Where’s my Guinness??!!??

It was a great crowd this week at the Horse and Hound in Hood River! A bit smaller than usual - perhaps the crazy rain scared people away. The scores were big though, and everyone bet big ont he final question with team “Leaves with your Money” coming out ahead in first place!
Thanks for coming, and thanks Sandbar Developers for taking me poking fun at you in good humor. And for not socking me in the nose at the end. *grin*

With every new show in the world starting on TV this week, I was very impressed to see 6 teams formed by 27 people at my first Fall pub quiz! They have embraced the Fall scent and breezes and clamored in to play the quiz. But nobody brought me any leave flowers.
Bingo was tough for some, but we did have a winner; The Squirrels. Round 2 was a fun one and The Squirrels held onto their lead. The Fall handout was brutal and the Landmarks handout was a cinch - everyone got 100% correct on that one!
So we had The Squirrels in the lead, Team Radical on their tails and Smokin Aces tied with The West Missoulaians for third place. Smokin Aces were less ballsy with their gambled points and it paid off. Everyone got the challenge round question wrong…..So the Aces snagged first place with the Squirrels chomping at 2nd.
Til next week…..gotta go watch my DVR now.

Strange start to the quiz last night… 49 people at Biddy’s were playing and it was so quiet through the bingo round that you could hear the bubbles in people’s beer popping!! It was really weird… I have never heard a crowd that size be so quiet!! I guess that means people were just really concentrating on the bingo round.
But the silence was short lived as everyone started to open up as we went into the quizlinks 2nd round and by the time of the final question we were back to the boisterous crowd I’m used to at Biddy’s!!!
I think it was the closest Pub Quiz I have ever had with 8 points separating the top five teams. Unfortunately, we missed out on five teams going into the final round by one person… arrggghhh!! (oops I flashed back to pirate week there for a sec) which really sucked for ‘Pillow Pants’ and ‘Tragically Fit’ who were fourth and fifth respectively. Bring another friend in next week guys and hopefully we can get you all into the final round!!!
‘Stinky Pinky’ was in the lead all night but with a conservative wager in the final round fell into third andout of the cash…. ouch!! The ever present ‘Schadenfreude’ jumped up to second with the final question. But the night belonged to ‘Sinister Cistern’ who came through with a balls to the wall wager in the fnal round taking the Biddy’s Pub Quiz crown for the week.
Well played guys!!!

PS Quiet please!

It was a lovely fall evening down at the Green Dragon last night… I was impressed with the craftiness of the folks as they brought in their LeafRoses for the bonus points. I guess I should stop being surprised at the craftiness and artistic creativty of the folks in this town… after all that’s one of the reasons I love it here in the rose city!
When it came down to it we had 41 people at the quiz last night which meant we had a nice size pot going on for a Monday!! The absinthe and handcrafted beers lubricated us enough to forget summer’s passing and we got down to a good ole fashion Pub Quiz.
Three teams got into the final round with ‘All out of Bubble Gum’ falling out of the money by a mere 6 points!! I have to give them props because they have been trying so hard to get into the money in the last few weeks and just missed it last night!! Sorry guys!!
The forces of ‘Clarificaton Please!’ and ‘Cattle Prodigy’ combined last night to become the power team ‘Prodigy Please!’ and it paid off with them coming in second. But the night belonged to ‘The Hobnobs’ who catapulted themselves to the victory by conquering the second round ‘Who am I?’, Well played guys!!
Wel I guess now that’s it’s fall I have to put away my micro-speedo swimsuit and flip-flops. ahhh I miss them already!!
Cheers everyone!!

What is the physics term for the maximum speed at which an object can no longer accelerate in a free fall due to drag? Terminal Velocity. Of course the real question of the night is: What is the term for the maximum speed at which an object can no longer accelerate in a free fall due to a DRAG QUEEN? Here’s an example of the aforementioned for you to observe and take note:
Oh my bad, that\’s Beyonce
We may just be onto some new physics on Monday night’s. Tonight the cash at Slaughter’s rolled right on over to next week and that means that $25 big smackers will sweeten that pot for the teams playing next week. The final question edged out the Streeps, and the Bar Team henceforth known as “The Bar Bitches you ate“ took the pot into rollover. Been awhile since the boys at the bar won some $$$$ but tonight they did. They practically aced that Songs H.O which helped them on the way to victory. The Streeps cashed in at the end with some great prizes too (FULL DVD BOX SETS of some good shit!), and Ugly Mike didn’t walk away empty handed with a really cool CD. Gifts galore!
Good times peeps! If you’re coming to Quiz at CC’s next week, get there a bit early, the tables are filling up fast.

We had a nice turnout of pirate booty seekers at the Parkway Station last night. Near a thirty of the ol nasty scallywags. Near a few more than 3 had any real speak to speak of, yet some brought props, and many walked the plank of shame during our second round “Who be’s I?”
Yep, second week running Dazed and Confused took the top notch at the Parkway, they are in and on the game boys and girls. D&C also brought along a nice ceramic verison of Polly the Pirate that looked alot like me…LOL, yeah, I know it WAS the big smile that made you think of me, nothing below that! She sat avast my ship all night and watched along side me as the teams played off. It was close going into the finals, with 3 teams nearly tying, but in the end 5 points seperated the 3’s from the 4’s and 5’s. Thanks for all the arrggghing during the game. And shame shame shame on those that missed the Sarah Palin clue in Round two, it was shamefully easy…just like her daughter Bristol…oooh snap
Till next time at the Parkway–Maybe I’ll catch ye mates downtown talking like Pirates at the festival this weekend…Cathedral Park, ahoy!
