Parkway Station 11.21.08

There is something about “Name that Tune” that makes for a good quiz.  It might not seem fancy, but there is something inherently rewarding about tunneling to the depths of your brain to recall the name “Tom Waits.”  I mean, really, how often does anyone think about Tom Waits?  How often does an entire room [...]

The Beer Whores Win Parkway Station…Again 11.13.08

Pub Quizzers out at Parkway Station were pumped for the quiz tonight.  At least I think they were - lots of British accents and costumes - I reserve judgement.  I did enjoy the man in the pointy hat, and Dazed and Confused and My Brain Hurts in their white hats.  And the lumberjacks.  It was [...]

Something about a presidential election gets me all sentimental.  A log crackling peacefully on the fire, my dad shouting at the T.V., my mother in tears over exit polls – gives me a bad case of the warm fuzzies.
A completely new experience, on the other hand, is Pub Quiz: Election Day. So what if those [...]

First I’m going to gush about the costumes.

Such pride! We had a really good showing this Thursday night.  The Halloweenies and In-Laws and Outlaws were the most decorated teams, featuring characters from The Office, who won Funniest Costume, an Urban soldier, a punk rocker girl, Whisky Woman and Raggedy Ann.
Whisky Woman is now my sewing idol. An [...]

Pubquizzers at Parkway Station really know their television.  My attention span is really limited to cartoons and Monk, and MAYBE Southpark (is that a cartoon?).  Anyway, any kind of drama is way out of my league.
The Bingo round was productive for everybody, especially the Sheep Shaggers, the Brute Squad and Dazed and Confused who [...]

Weirdest thing happened last night after the quiz – Queer Eye for the Straight Guy South Park!  Now I can consider myself slightly more socially aware.  Or something like that.  Instead of getting my news from comedy shows, I get my pop culture from cartoon satire.  Is that so wrong?
Right now, I am obsessed with [...]

It was great to meet all the new people at Parkway Station this Thursday night.  Maybe some people from Hood River will make the journey down and visit?  I think you guys might like the crowd.  The pubquizzers at the station sure made me feel welcome, anyway.
Go on and heckle me next week but I [...]

Or you’ll totally forget what the hell you had worked up in your own head to write about.  Yeah, that’s the ticket!    Sheep Shaggers are on a roll, they’ve won two weeks running at the Parkway Station out in the boro.  We had a fun night tonight.  I think the theme, the NTT and the [...]

Shagging sheep at the Watering hole

Howdy boys and girls.
Fresh back from a rousting night at the Parkway Station.  Those Shaggers were going at it all night long, though the Darwin Award winners gave them a good run for the money.  Darwin’s took the lead early with their bingo prowess and their awesome autumn roses (see I knew how to spell [...]

Edward Teach= Blackbeard…I get it.

We had a nice turnout of pirate booty seekers at the Parkway Station last night.  Near a thirty of the ol nasty scallywags.  Near a few more than 3 had any real speak to speak of, yet some brought props, and many walked the plank of shame during our second round “Who be’s I?”
Yep, second [...]
