Horse and Hound 8.6.08

The Pub Quizzers at the Horse and Hound do know who lives in a pineapple under the sea, and they also know their Adult Swim on Cartoon Network, and some of them have even heard of Earthworm Jim.

It was a toss up for me between my two trivia loves: Oscar Wilde and cartoons.  I figured [...]

Beware the Puns! Horse and Hound 7.30.08

July 31st, 2008 at 11:51 am » Comments (0)

What’s the name of the pizza restaurant on Oak Street in Hood River? You might not know, because it’s an hour and half away from Portland, but its pretty good pizza.  Well, that’s the situation that Pub Quizzers at the Horse and Hound found themselves stewing about this week while being grilled on Portland restaurants.  [...]

No, I haven’t seen that one either… Horse and Hound 7.23.08

July 24th, 2008 at 9:30 pm » Comments (0)

But then, there are so many movies I haven’t seen, why should drug movies be any different?
The wind went cold this Wednesday night, but Hood River’s Pub Quizzers made it through, perhaps warmed by thoughts of drug-fueled benders long since passed.

The theme invited close scores.  Even so, the evening was led by The Crack Whores, [...]

Too doggone hot at the Horse and Hound! 7.9.08

July 10th, 2008 at 4:36 pm » Comments (0)

How I have longed to be justified to use the word “doggone.”  In this case, I have an actual hot dog:

The steadfast Pub Quizzers out at the House and Hound paid no heed to their whiny, sweaty Quiz Master and took their quiz outside.  My refreshing revenge was watching everyone try to decipher “I can’t [...]

Sandbars and lightning at Horse & Hound

July 3rd, 2008 at 4:31 pm » Comments (0)

We took our chances on the heavy-looking storm clouds and were rewarded another wonderful week outside at the Horse & Hound. And it was lucky we did, because there was a huge turnout last night!  Either despite, or because of, the holiday weekend, we had eleven teams, the biggest crowd I’ve gotten to host so [...]

Horse and Hound 6/18/08

June 19th, 2008 at 9:33 am » Comments (1)

The gentle souls at the Horse and Hound made my first solo pub gig into a great time.  The writers seem to have been trying to make them suffer for their hospitality, but judging from the buzz in the room it takes more than a page of obscure album covers to knock out the pub [...]

You know I love you

I’m going to miss this place soooooo much. You all gave me a spectacular good-bye quiz and I won’t forget it.
I’m so happy to be able to leave you with some one I believe will be a truly excellent Quizmaster. Leandra, you rock!
The Winners were Daddy’s Bastard Children but a big shout out to NumbNutz [...]

OUTSIDE HOOD RIVER SUMMER RULEZ!

May 15th, 2008 at 7:02 pm » Comments (0)

YES! I love me some outdoor quiz action. It’s only awkward when Will Ferrell is yelling obscenities during the audio clue. Sorry kids, don’t use those words at home.
Fanciest lighters of the week goes to Forever Fourth and their collection of sweet occupied Japan lighters.
Fanciest cheesecake of the year also goes to Ben of Forever [...]

Are you my mother?

May 8th, 2008 at 1:46 pm » Comments (0)

Mom Jean-Marie Davis Odell, led her team Sandbar Developers to victory last night over second place newbie team Scrap-Hos. Everyone played well together and the musical jam session on stage afterwards was a hoot!
I really wanted Ice Cream before the quiz from Mike’s but I controlled myself and let the sweetness of the Horse and [...]

I’m Back! (at least for a little while)

April 30th, 2008 at 9:47 pm » Comments (1)

I’m once again the full timer at Horse and Hound. Woohoo.
Now, I can’t wait till the weather forces us outside to bask in the glorious sun at the foot of Mount Hood.
Thanks for bearing with me on the slow second round. We got through it, and too many listens to Tomorrow from Annie, together.
I love [...]
