Bathing in happy quizzy goodness

October 9th, 2008 at 12:00 pm » Comments (4)

Looks like we’ve hit our stride at the Maiden. Our cozy, yummy venue has developed a loyal following of fun-loving, enthusiastic quizzers and is always welcome to newbies.
With another $100+ pot, the competition was pretty fierce throughout!
Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales and Thomas Crapper were no help for folks tonight in the Bingo Trivia round. Round 2 [...]

They made me say “Sore Anus” all night…

October 2nd, 2008 at 1:14 pm » Comments (0)

Yes they did. One of the PQ regular teams came to visit us at the Maiden and decided on a special name for the night - “Scrappy’s Sore Anus”. So I had to say it many times throughout the night. I admit I kind of enjoyed it. I hope I enunciated properly.
Fun night at the [...]

Last hurrahs at CCs

September 1st, 2008 at 11:37 pm » Comments (1)

It was my last night at CC Slaughters (been covering for Ms. Polly who’s headed back, new and improved next week!). It was sad, but my lovely regulars treated me like a Quizzy Princess.
It was head-to-head action between Charo’s Angels and the House Team. In Bingo everyone did decent, but apparently not quite good enough [...]

Farewell, Team Hardcore!

August 27th, 2008 at 10:37 pm » Comments (0)

Fun night at The Maiden. A bit quieter than the past couple of weeks, but fun! Nice mix of regulars and new faces.
In the Bingo round, it looked like we had two Bingo winners, but after double checking, the Bingo went only to team Low Expectations. After Round 1, the over-achieving Urban Achievers took the [...]

Super Maiden

August 21st, 2008 at 10:33 am » Comments (0)

Another fun night at The Maiden. Not as hectic as last week with the huge birthday group, but a good size game for some paranormal action.
The scores were fairly tight for the whole game. Except for Mostly Confused, who apparently likes to stay on top, the rest of the field shifted around every round. Newbies [...]

His name sounds like slang for male genitalia…

Fun night at CC Slaughters with a lot of our regulars representing. Perhaps the clouds made folks feel more quizzy. Yes, I’ve invented a new adjective
quizzy [KWIZ ee]: tingly good feeling about exercising grey matter with friends and rivals
It was a pretty close game throughout the night. The Monday night folks were at a disadvantage [...]

Lots of celebrating at the Maiden

August 14th, 2008 at 9:21 am » Comments (0)

When I walked in I was a bit stunned to already see a packed house at The Maiden. Our cozy venue was packed to the hilt with Quizzy-eyed faces.
First of all congrats and happy wishes to our celebrants of the night. Nicole brought her birthday party to the quiz (thanks for quiz-artying with us! [...]

GMTA = Gay Man, Totally Available?

August 12th, 2008 at 8:53 am » Comments (0)

That was my favorite answer of the night, courtesy of Charo’s Angels, from the Internet Lingo handouts. The real answer is Great Minds Think Alike, but I think the internet should seriously think about changing that. The Streeps also came up with another funny guess for GMTA - Give Me The Answer. Nice try, but [...]

Give it up for the boys and men

back-street-boys-i-want-it-that-way
First of all, enjoy the Backstreet Boys while you read the post. [Right click on the link above to open in a new window.] It might be distracting if you’re surprised, like I was, how disgusting well you know the words to the song. In fact I was shocked at how well, I knew so [...]

Rollover in effect

July 31st, 2008 at 4:29 pm » Comments (0)

Though we had a small-ish crowd at The Maiden we had a nice little pot of cash due to the rollover cash from The Maiden’s early victory a couple of weeks ago.
We cozied up with some panini sandwiches (the house recommendation) and all was good with bonus points and all. The teams all did quite [...]
