Whoa, where’d everyone go this week? Or is it that people actually don’t love our fair town as much as I would have thought? Yeah, I know, we’re not New York or Mexico City or whatever, but come on, Portland’s pretty cool, am I right? Can I get a huzzah? For Portland and Portland-themed quizzes? No? Ok, maybe next time.

For now, after a record-setting 112-person quiz last week at the ol’ Belmont Inn, it was like a desert tonight, with a sweet beer oasis at the bar. 32 people showed up and we had a nice lil’ intimate quiz with mostly regulars. Missed Executive Assistant Renee and her hot hubby Jay, but new hire Leandra filled in nicely. We had some fun, had some laughs, and reveled in this great town we call the City of Roses.

Kudos to the team who recognized the Mountain Goats track I played during one of the breaks. Since it was a slow night, I’m gonna take this opportunity to tell y’all to check this band out if you haven’t yet. They’re ideal for wonderfully nerdy, smart pub quizzers like us, who I imagine will love lead singer’s John Darnielle’s intelligent lyrics, excellent melodies and weirdly beautiful vocals. Seriously, check ‘em out!
