On this day November 17, a bartender takes first place

The answer?  Slaughter U! That’s right Martinez started out as our Monday night bartender at Slaughters, and now he’s a regular quiz player and as of last night has joined the ranks of “WINNER“  Martinez and his teammates started the night off right with some shots of the Never tried before Absinthe, which from the smell wafting toward me and grimaces on their faces will not be something this QM will EVER introduce to her palette.  (but kudos to those with balls enough to try it)

Last night’s bonus point op was SWEET indeed.  We saw alot of cocktails, shots and crazy ass drinks coming over from the Rainbow Room as well as from behind the bar.  It was a very relaxed quiz indeed.  No one got the bingo bonus, so the game was tight from beginning to end, we never had more than 50 points between 1st and last place.  I would like to point out that NO ONE took the “Bring the movie Cocktail” points last night, everyone instead decided to drink their points.  In fact from teamDai Bach, who got edged out of the 3 place position by just ONE POINT….“Damnit, I should have ordered another drink!” Let that be your mantra players.  In fact that is t-shirt worthy in my opinion.

To explain my unwillingness to try all those licoricey things and my hesitancy at some of the drinks last night, let me just say…I vomit.  Violently.  I spew forth vehemently from all thinks that taste, smell or have any ingredients like Licorice (or anise)?  Yep.  There you go.  I once threw up because I accidentally put pop rocks in my mouth that tasted like licorice. I have thrown up from mistakenly sipping Dr. Pepper.  I once got dry heaves when my daughter spilled a root bear on the floor.  I’ve gotten sick from fennel in Sausages.  Remember the old “World’s biggest Spruce tree” on the way to the coast?  Yep, I threw up there once because of some licorice tainted candies….seriously folks.  Oh, there’s more examples than that, I’m sure.  So whenever there are “New” cocktails going around, I’m reminded of my little quirk, trust me.  This is why I would never do a Mystery Shot at the Red Room with you, because if you never know what you’re going to get….well, you know, you never know what you’re going to get.  Last night all the players seemed to be drinking rootbeer floats, or Absinthe, or Flaming Dr. Peppers…I saw them all last night, and I certainly smelled them all from afar.  You seemed to enjoy them, and they did indeed look pretty.  I only wish I could be more adventerous with my cocktail consumption…you inspire me.  But not enough to puke.

Our winners for last night:

Slaughter U

Stegosaurus

The Streeps
