As a Quizmaster, when you start up a venue, you never know how the first night is going to turn out. Driving to The Green Dragon those type of thoughts were in my mind… wondering if anyone was going to show up… how are the regulars going to accept the quiz… etc…
Well needless to say all of my fears were unfounded. Everything was almost as perfect as it could have been last night down at The Green Dragon. We had 44 people come out and battle it out under the stars in the AWESOME outdoor venue that the folks at the Dragon, over the last few weeks, rushed to get ready for us!
To give an example of how The Dragon rolls… I have never done an outdoor quiz before and the wind caught me by surprise… so I asked the folks at The Dragon for something I could use for a paperweights to hold the papers down… well here comes Cody with four beer taps… How freaking Portland is that??? Not to mention that as we all raised our glasses to toast the future of the quiz I looked in mine and there was some cloudy liquid in it… hmmm could it be the up till this year illegal absinthe made right there?? I’ll never tell… 
But no matter how wonderful the venue is it’s the quiz that people come to play. And play we did. Everyone did well on the Bingo and then we moved into the Who am I? round… My wallet got a little lighter as I didn’t think that anyone would get the clue: I am a religious and political leader. I mean come on… I had to open my big mouth and say that if anyone gets this I’ll buy them a beer… Let’s just say I learned my lesson as four teams come running up with the correct answer… dammit… Looks like it’s Ramen noodles for me for the rest of the week!!!
In the end though three teams got into the final round: Mostly Confused, Clarification Please! and The Squirrels. The Squirrels were in first place throughout the night and got to choose the final question. Everyone ended up getting the final question right and The Squirrels stayed on top with a strong wager to become the Inagural winner at The Green Dragon. Clarification Please! Took second just edging out Mostly Confused. Well played guys!!
