I’m BAAACK! Fresh off the plane from the land of the Queen (UK), as well as Paris & Amsterdam. It was a fantastic trip except for the daily rain we got in London the entire time we were there. The Radiohead concert on July 1 in Amsterdam ROCKED! We had perfect weather, and shot some video which I will post very soon on uTube. The canal houses are cool, the coffeeshops cooler. Yes, Virginia, we did partake in the drug culture if only to experience what everyone says: its waaay better in Amsterdam!
After 3 days, we were off to Paris. I thought I knew what a croissant tasted like until I got to the City of Lights. Ooo la la! The pastisseries are manifique! Going up in the Eiffel Tower kind of reminded me of the Space Needle, only with a much different view. The Louvre was bigger than we could’ve possibly imagined, and after 3-1/2 hours, our dogs were a-barking. We couldn’t leave France without visiting Versailles…. wow! What a palace! Just wish our 18 month old son could’ve let us explore Marie Antoinette’s gardens (he, like us, were soaked from rain showers earlier that day, and suffice it to say he wasn’t happy).
From Paris, we took the Eurostar under the English Channel to London, our most expensive stop. The dollar is like a quarter there, with $4 for a 20 oz coke and $6 for a Happy Meal. Still, it was great to go up in the London Eye, take a Beefeater-led tour of the Tower of London, stroll through Kensington Gardens, watch the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, and watch the broadway show Avenue Q at London’s West End. Yeah, yeah… go all the way to London to catch a show written by a guy from Oregon. Go figure! ha ha
Anyway, its great to be back, and I will let you know when those Radiohead videos are up. Peace out!
