Even the wildfires around Hood River couldn’t keep Pub Quizzers away (one team had to drive an hour just to circumvent the traffic) and there was still a good turn out at the Horse and Hound this Wednesday night.
And a lucky thing too, because the topic was fun, the game was close and the win was well-deserved. Bonus points were easy to come by this week, and made all the difference in the game. Perhaps guessing my fondness for cats, several teams brought in the same ad of a cat doing the “potty dance” – good times indeed. But the highlight of the evening really was the way the game was played.
Three teams tied the Bingo round: “Where’s the Numbnuts?”, “Just doin’ it,” and “Sandbar Developers.” “Just doin’ it” won the Bingo bonus points and took the lead. In round two, “Plop, Plop. Fizz, Fizz” took the lead by a wide margin, followed by “Forever Forth” and “Sandbar Developers.”
After the handouts, however, there was a “major upset.” “The Pepsi Challenge” was not your usual sipping handout, and scores dipped as low as 25 points. Missing only one question, “Where’s the Numbnuts?” made an unexpected jump to the lead.
The top three teams, “Numbnuts,” “Just Doin’ it,” and “Plop, plop, fizz, fizz,” entered the final round and everyone bet high. Alas, everyone got it wrong, so with just 34 points, “Numbnuts” took the game.
It was a well-deserved win for the team, who have been playing the Horse and Hound for nearly nine months without a win. So Congratulations!
And thanks for the rice crispy treat.
Cheers,
Leandra
